Cancer has the biggest impact on our health – what to do?

A report released this month by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has indicated that cancer has the biggest impact on our health, and is costing Australia more years of life than any other disease group.
Recent research recognises the benefits of exercise as not only a way to reduce cancer risk, but has potential to support better health outcomes during and after cancer treatment.

The benefits of an exercise program designed by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist for those undertaking treatment for cancer include decreased fatigue, manage nausea, improved muscle mass, strength, and power, cardiorespiratory fitness, physical function, chemotherapy completion rates and reduced anxiety and depression.
In partnership with Hunter Cancer Centre, Ethos Health have developed the C-Fit program which starts with a 1:1 assessment followed by small group sessions at our Lake Macquarie Practice.
During the initial assessment you can expect:
- A thorough assessment of your current capacity, taking into account other health conditions and injury history
- Development of achievable exercise goals that are relevant and important to you
- Home exercise prescription to get started
Small Group Session with an EP (max 6 people)
- Ethos Health run Groups run for 45 minute exercise groups, 4 days per week
- Each participant completes a customised, safe and effective exercise program using modern equipment in a private clinic setting
