Exercise Right Week

Exercise Right Week

With national Exercise Right Week taking place between 23 and 29 May, recent research from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) has indicated Australians seemingly have the best intentions but fail miserably on follow-through when it comes to exercising to improve our health.

We are all unique so exercise doesn’t have to have a “cookie cutter” approach. We can make exercise fun, it doesn’t have to be a chore do something to ensure you’re moving and most importantly enjoy it and its benefits. The possibilities are endless from lifting weights, completing a park run, having a game of touch footy, a light swim, throwing a Frisbee to a high intensity “Tabata session”.

Do something that fits into your day, set achievable and trackable goals once you have reached that goal set a new pinnacle to reach. Try and make exercise and movement part of your day. Look for opportunities to move and make the most of that time.

But most importantly make sure you are doing what’s right for you and consult an Accredited Exercise Physiologist if you’re concerned about taking the leap and starting a new exercise program.
